A Mother’s Influence
How many times do you see a NBA draftee recognizes his mother upon hearing his name called on Draft night? The exhilarated athlete begins elevating his mother’s role of prominence and credit her for his success in playing sport. I remembered reading how a mother influenced Coach John Thompson of Georgetown University to give her son, Allen Iverson a chance to play basketball after his incarceration. Coach Thompson quoted that it was her influence more than anybody else that convinced him to give Iverson a second chance. A mother’s influence molds children toward certain experiences like a master Potter who transforms clay into expensive bowls.
A mother’s influence determines the success of one’s life. A mother uses her life experiences to develop greatness within her children. For instance, the greater the facts that a mother unfolds about self, the more probability that such will direct her children toward certain paths in life. Yet, a mother needs spirituality, which comes through prayer to fulfill her roles as a godly mother. In Luke 1:46-47, Mary said, “My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.” These words are part of the song that Mary sang which reveals the in-depth Scriptural knowledge that Mary possesses to impart, and why God the Father chose her to mother the God Child. A mother, with Mary’s influences provided the path for Jesus to develop into manhood because later He was to face horrific, throes of agony to redeem Mankind.
Yet, today God the Father selects YOU to simulate the Savior in your family and the ones in your inner circle. Remember, Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” We tend to read this Scripture and quickly place a timeframe that the results will occur speedily. Yet, the verse simple states that “when he is old, he will not depart” from the training. When a mother influences her children; the training becomes that standard of measurement that we use during adulthood to travel the path intended. Therefore, I challenged you to search the Scriptural knowledge like Mary as you unfold your influence to serve and train others in reaching their greatness.
